Project Overview: Developed during my placement, this project is a promotional level in Fortnite designed for current and prospective Staffordshire University students. As the designer, I focused on enhancing interactivity to increase player engagement. Players can explore all three university campuses through a quest that requires retrieving an item from each location.

Quest Design and Puzzles

Main Quest:

  • Objective: Reactivate a bot by collecting three batteries.
  • Steps:
    1. The bot asks for help in finding three batteries.
    2. Batteries are obtained by completing marked quests on the map.
    3. Reactivate the bot to receive a university hat.

Car Jam Puzzle:

  • Location: Stoke campus student village.
  • Objective: Free the red car by moving other cars.
  • Mechanics: Push cars by jumping on them; receive a battery upon completion.

Component Placement Puzzle:

  • Location: Stafford medical campus.
  • Objective: Help a bot by placing its body components correctly.
  • Mechanics: Correct placement resets the puzzle; receive a battery upon success.

Plat-former Puzzle:

  • Location: London campus.
  • Objective: Rescue a bot stuck on a ledge.
  • Mechanics: Navigate moving balconies to reach the bot; receive a battery upon rescue.
